Looking for a way to personalize the giving experience for your community? Every donor receives an email receipt after they give. You can customize the email subject and body so the gift receipt is more personalized and reflects your community's voice. We'll walk you through the process of customizing the receipt information in the portal, and will show you an example of a customized email receipt.
Getting Started
Log in to your aware3 portal, then click 'Giving' and select the 'Receipts' dropdown.
Default Messaging Fields
Next, you'll see an option to edit the fields for Receipt Subject Line and Receipt Body.
Receipt Subject Line: To be sure donors can easily recognize the receipt in their email, we recommend including the word 'Receipt' within the first three words of the subject line, and ending with your organization's name.
Receipt Body: The receipt will always include basic transaction details, fund, and organization name, so this field can be used to personalize the receipt.
After you're finished customizing the copy, click 'Save.'
Transaction Notification
Administrators also have the ability to set up transaction notification for themselves and other administrators.

Within the Transaction Notification section under Giving > Receipts, administrators can turn on email notifications (for themselves and other admins) if a transaction is made . Below is an example of what the email notification looks like:
Custom Messaging
With Receipt Customization, you will have the ability to add text that can even include links to create a customized giving receipt for each fund and appeal.
* Note: If the form has a payment element and there is not a custom message set up for the form but, there is a custom message associated to the fund, then the custom message for the associated fund is displayed. If there is no custom message for either, then nothing is displayed on the receipt. *
Setting up a custom receipt
From the Giving>Receipts page, select the Custom Messaging button.
Find the Fund or Appeal you would like to create a custom response for, and click the Add button at the end of the row.

You will then see the Custom Message window below. Add the custom message you desire in the Custom Message input box. If you would like to apply this message to specific appeal(s), check the box next to those you wish from the Appeals dropdown menu. When you are finished, Click Save.
*Note: Custom messaging can be set up for each appeal within a given fund.
When the donor has completed their giving they will now see your custom messaging on their Giving Receipt
Editing a custom receipt
To edit a previously created custom response, go to Giving>Receipts page, select the Custom Messaging button and click the Edit button on the respective Fund/Appeal you would like to update.
You will then see the Custom Message window showing the existing response.

Make the changes to the message and update the appeals you would like the message associated with, then click Save.
To remove a custom receipt, clear the Custom Message and deselect all the Appeals and click Save.
Test it Out!
Now that you've customized your email receipt and transaction notification preferences, you can see your customization in action the next time someone donates. Check your email after processing a gift to see the custom subject and body!
