You've created your Apple Developer Account (if you haven't created your account, start here), and now it's time to enroll in the Apple Developer Program. Below is a step-by-step guide to enroll.
Step 1: Enroll in the Apple Developer Program
Log in at Apple's Developer site, then click the Join the Apple Developer Program button at the bottom of the page.
*Note: If your organization is a 501(c)(3), we’ll cover the Apple fee waiver later in this article.
Next, click Enroll in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
On the next page, you'll see the information needed to enroll as an organization. Click Start Your Enrollment at the bottom of the screen.
Verify that your Apple ID information is correct, select Develop Apps as a Company/Organization, Nonprofit Organization, or Educational Organization (depending on your organization type) next to Entity Type, and click Continue.
*Note: It is very important to enroll as an organization, not an individual! If your account is created as an individual account, you will have to contact Apple to have them switch it to an organization account. You can choose Company/Organization, Nonprofit Organization, or Educational Organization, depending on your organization type.
Step 2: Enroll Your Account as a Company/Organization
The next step is to enroll your account as a Company/Organization. This form will ask you to verify your contact information and your organization's information (you'll need that D-U-N-S number here!). Click Continue to proceed.
The next page will be a summary of the Apple ID, entity type, and contact information. Click Submit to proceed.
Step 3: Enrollment Confirmation
After you complete the enrollment process, check your email for a confirmation from Apple letting you know that your enrollment is being processed. Make sure to open the email and follow the instructions to activate your Apple ID; if you are unable to verify that Apple ID, you cannot use it. Apple’s verification process can take up to three business days, and you will receive another email when Apple has completed their verification process.
Step 4: Paying for Your Apple Developer Account
Finally, you will be prompted to pay for your Apple Developer Account. The cost is $99/year and you will have the option to automatically renew your purchase every year by checking the box next to Automatic Renewal. Click Purchase to continue to the billing page. We highly recommend that you select Automatic Renewal so you don't need to remember to renew your Developer License each year! Apple will remove your app from the App store if your license is not kept current, so it's important to renew each year.
*Note: Eligible nonprofits, accredited educational institutions, and government agencies may be eligible to have the annual fee of $99 waived. See the below section titled Apple Developer Program Membership Fee Waivers for instructions about this process.
You may be prompted to re-enter your Apple ID at this time in order to proceed to the payment screen.
Enter your billing information and click Continue to process payment for your Developer Account.
Once you complete your purchase, you will receive a purchase confirmation email and a membership confirmation email.
*Apple Developer Program Membership Fee Waivers
Eligible nonprofits, accredited educational institutions, and government agencies may be eligible to have the annual fee of $99 waived.
After you receive your enrollment ID (Step 3 above), you can request to have your membership fee waived by logging into your Apple Developer Account (using your Apple ID and password) and filling out this form:
You will need your EIN/tax ID for this process. Apple will review all requests to have the membership fee waived, and will contact you to let you know whether your request has been approved.
