This article will teach you how to navigate through the Site Manager 3.0 and control the visibility of pages in main and category menus.
Main Menu
The Main Menu displays the top navigation categories on your website. (Main Menu categories are set per your request during implementation and are not editable.) A Category Menu under the Main Menu displays the first level (Level 1) of pages.
*Note: If you need to change your main menu categories, please email us at communitysupport@factsmgt.com.
Right-side Navigation
Right-side navigation refers to the Category Menu on internal pages. Level 2 and 3 pages can be accessed from this menu.
Visibility and Navigation
Visibility determines where the page is viewable within the navigation. You can easily change the visibility of a page:
- Go to the Page Builder in your Site Manager.
- Select a Main Menu category and decide which page you want to edit.
- Select the gear icon to the far right of the page title under Settings.
- Select a Visibility option under the General tab.
- In Main and Category Menu: Appears in the Main menu and in the Category Menu on an internal page.
- In Category Menu Only: Appears in the Category Menu on an internal page but does not appear in the Main Menu.
- Hidden - (accessible with link/URL): Does not appear in the Main Menu or the Category Menu on an internal page.
Active/Inactive Status
Acitve/Inactive determines whether or not a page can be accessed by the public. If a page is inactive, even someone going directly to that page's address will not be able to see it. To control whether a page is Active or Inactive:
- Go to the Page Builder on your Site Manager.
- Locate the page.
- Move the toggle under the Active/Inactive column to either Active or Inactive.
- If Active, the page will be accessible. (If someone has a direct URL they will be able to access the page whether it is visible or not.)
- If Inactive, the page will not be accessible or visible, even with a direct URL.
Additional Main Menu Categories
Due to the functionality of Site Manager, you can add additional Main Menu categories that do not actually appear in the Main Menu for the purpose of generating pages that have specific directory URLs. For example, you may want to create additional categories for your church's groups (youth ministry, mens ministry, womens ministry) and then give each its own directory URL (yourdomain.com/mens-ministry). To do so, follow the steps below:
- Go to Setup/Options in your Site Manager.
- Click Navigation Categories.
- Click Add Category.
- Position After: Select the position you want your new category to appear in your Main Menu categories.
- Type a Category Name and a Directory name. The directory name typically matches the category name (yourdomain.com/mens-ministry). You may also create subdirectories. For example, if you already have a "ministry" directory, then you can also create a "mens-ministry" subdirectory by typing "ministry/mens-ministry". (Only lowercase letters, numbers, and dashes are allowed.)
- Click Add Category.
- Go to Page Builder.
- Click your new category.
- Copy the URL.
- Go to Page Builder.
- Click the Main Menu category under which you want your new category to appear on your website.
- Click Add Link.
- Type a Link Label.
- Select one of the below Visibility options under the General tab.
- In Main and Category Menu
- In Main Menu Only
- In Category Menu Only
- Hidden (accessible with link/URL)
- Click Add.
Once your new main menu category is available, you can begin adding pages to that category.
