Changing & Canceling Recurring Gifts
You can change the payment method or amount for a recurring gift any time. This article covers:

Changing the Payment Method for a Recurring Gift
You can edit the payment info for any active recurring gift by accessing My Giving, then clicking Update Payment Info.

After clicking Update Payment Info for a given active recurring gift, you have the option to make the following changes:
- Change the payment method from a credit/debit card to a bank account
- Change the payment method from a bank account to a credit/debit card
- Change the payment method from one debit/credit card to another debit/credit card
- Change the payment method from one bank account to another bank account
- Include or exclude the processing fee in the gift (available only if the account has the ability cover processing fees turned on; reach out to support@aware3.com to turn this setting on)
To change the payment method for a recurring gift:
- Select either Credit Card or Bank Account and enter the required payment information.
- If your church has turned on the setting for donors to cover the processing fees, the user will also have the option to update if they would like to cover processing fees.
- Click Save Payment Info to save, or click Cancel Edits to discard changes.
Changing the Amount for a Recurring Gift
You can edit the amount for any active recurring gift by accessing My Giving, then clicking Edit Gift Details.
To edit the amount for the recurring gift:
- Type the new gift amount in the box.
- Click Save Details to save your changes, Cancel Edits to discard your changes, or Delete Gift to cancel the recurring gift.

Changing the Frequency for a Recurring Gift
You can edit the frequency for any active recurring gift by accessing My Giving, then clicking Edit Gift Details.
To edit the frequency:
- Select the dropdown under Frequency.
- Select your new frequency. Your previous frequency selection will be pre-populated in this box.
- You can also change the next occurrence date for a gift series that has already started once you change the frequency.
- Click Save Details to save your changes, Cancel Edits to discard your changes, or Delete Gift to cancel the recurring gift.
Changing the Number of Occurrences for a Recurring Gift
You can edit the number of occurrences for any active recurring gift or scheduled recurring gift by accessing My Giving, then clicking Edit Gift Details.

To change the number of occurrences for a recurring gift:
- Select the dropdown under Occurrences Left.
- Select the new number of occurrences left (selecting "Ongoing" will keep the recurring gift running indefinitely, until stopped).
- Click Save Details to save your changes, Cancel Edits to discard your changes, or Delete Gift to cancel the recurring gift.
(Note: User cannot choose today's date as either the new start date or the next occurrence date)
If the gift series has not started yet, you will see a field to change the scheduled start date:
- Select the calendar icon under Start Date.
- Select your new Start Date.
- Click Save Details to save your changes, Cancel Edits to discard your changes, or Delete Gift to cancel the recurring gift.
(Note: User cannot choose today's date as either the new start date or the next occurrence date)
Canceling a Recurring Gift
There are three simple ways that a recurring gift can be canceled:

Donor's Email Receipt. When the donor creates a recurring gift, and every time it recurs, an automated email is sent confirming their transaction. Each email contains a link that they can click to cancel their recurring transaction quickly and easily.
- My Giving. A donor can also cancel their recurring gift by selecting the give button in-app, or clicking on the web giving link and then selecting "My Giving". After selecting "My Giving", the donor will be prompted to enter their phone number, email address and select a delivery method for the access link. Once a delivery method is selected, the donor will receive a text or email with a link they can click on to manage all of their recurring gifts.

Click on Edit Gift Details:
Then, click on Delete Gift:
3. Administrator, Management Console. Under your "Giving" feature > "Transactions" tab, locate the individual that matches the gift and scroll to the far right of the screen. You should see three dots under the "Actions" column. Click the three dots and click "Cancel Series". This will cancel future gifts for that donor under that particular series.
Changing a Saved Payment Method for a One-Time Gift
If you have a stored giving passcode that is saving your payment information every time you make a one-time gift and you want to change that stored payment method, when you get to the page where the payment method is saved, follow these instructions:
- If your existing stored payment method is your bank account and you want to change it to a credit/debit card, uncheck the box that says 'Use bank account,' then type the card information in the card fields.
- If your existing stored payment method is a debit/credit card and you want to change it to a bank account, check the box that says 'Use bank account,' then type the routing and account numbers.
- If your existing stored payment method is a debit/credit card and you want to change it to a different debit/credit card, simply delete the stored numbers and re-type the new card numbers.
